Heteronormativity has become an invisible and accpeted part of our institutions that we participate in on a daily basis. The ability to ignore our own complicity with the formation of gendered norms is the exact way that we make the queer body something that is deviant destroying any possibility for subjectivity and creates an absense of space for the queer body. Our argument is about breaking out of the norms of the debate space and being able to have a better understanding about queer bodies in the debate space so that the debate itself becomes queer.

Yep 3 (Gust A., Ph.D., Professor of Communication Studies at San Francisco State University, “The Violence of Heteronormativity in Communication Studies: Notes on Injury, Healing, and Queer World-Making”, Journal of Homosexuality 45:2-4, pp. 11-59. Project Muse //RC)

The state is a machine that makes queer opression inevidable – the only hope for futurity is space outside of heteronormative instituions like the state

Munoz 9 (José Esteban the chair of the Department of Performance Studies at Tisch School of the Arts “Cruising Utopia The Then and There of Queer Futurity” pg 64 //RC)

The state understands the need to  [...] be, and that will be.

Working within systems of power assures that subjects are subjected as agents to them
